@Steeple333 By the mid-50s, clothing manufactures were working to make men more fashion-conscious, and wear a wider variety of clothing--and that definitely included different colors and patterns.

Actually, it's somewhat bold to show a male at the time (with a sister and presumably a mother in residence) ironing, and even be willing to sew on his own button (before he cut the deal with Sue).

Maybe it's just me thinking this, but if you need a short film with verbally abusive narrators yapping at you endlessly to know how to be clean and presentable, there's a bigger problem here.

Haha, I'd fail this test they put to Sue, and I'm very happy about that. This didn't teach me how to be clean and nice, this teaches me how to conform.
