Thai parliament chooses Thaksin ally as PM - 28 Jan 08

Thailand's parliament has chosen a close ally of former leader Thaksin Shinawatra as its new Prime Minister.

Samak Sondoraweh, who leads the People Power Party had been widely tipped to succeed Thaksin, who was ousted in a September 2006 coup.

On the face of it the appointment of a Prime Minister should be seen as a confidence boosting step in Thailand following the 2006 coup, but some believe the choice of Samak will actually further divide the country.

Ritdech asked 1 year ago what happened to her country?I hope now she knows the answer.Thailand had been long governed by the old regime from the absolute monarchy to a socalled democracy.The real condition is some kind of dictatorship.Thaksin came to power through election in 1998,he led the country so well,so progress but then during his second term he was ousted by military coup on September 19,2009.Since then Thailand has gone so much backward,as you can clearly see it today.

Thaksin, Samak and Somchai Government were trying to have a good relationship with Cambodia but thing is getting worse because of a group people of PAD and Army Chief Anupong who has more power over Thai PM. There are Yellow and Red Thais, not all Thais support this war with Cambodia, so please to all Thais please be smarter and live happy with your neighbor. Preah Vihear temple and area around are always belong to Cambodia, and make no sense for your trying to take them over.
