If a whole lot more people thought like Hitchens the world would be full of hope. Think of how far behind we are technologically because of crazy god fearing leaders killing people who thought differantly. I bet anything every that if we never made up god, we wouldn't be in half the trouble we've gotted ourselves into.

It is true, and the clergy has been unresponsive to the facts. But, no less unresponsive than they have to the over 11,000 charges of child molestation against them since the 50's, or to the arrest of the vatican's pedophilia adviser, riccardo seppia, who was arrested for child molestation last year.
