Is it possible to tweek the design to put an 88-key board that has it's midi ports and audio outs on the left side versus the back (mine is a yamaha P-80 that has an incredible sound and I am not going to change it plus I also have several rack and plugin units for additional sounds and features. Also what about changes to the size of the racks on top as I have quite a bit of rack gear, I love the design and the idea of keeping cables hidden...

@lonzenator Hi Ionzenator. Thank you for your inquiry. The side panel is weight bearing and allows 60" of space. To make it capable of sliding your P-80 out from under the desk, it would need to be widened and would require additional materials aside from the 2 sheets of plywood. The speaker risers are 2RU but can easily be made for up to 6 RU. Another idea is to have a rack cabinet alongside of the desk for stuff you don't need to adjust all that often.

great design! one fundamental flaw > the keyboard. why?

the qwerty is used 90% of the time (and not just for music production) therefore it demands top priority. the qwerty on top of the piano shown in your desk forces it to be raised up 5" but putting the qwerty under would only raise the piano up 2".

yes, you could adjust your chair height but it will never be as comfortable as it being at a lower height. only reason i mention this is because i have thrown out many designs.

@TrollinOnMyFace Thank you for your thoughtful comments! Before trying out a prototype, I wondered the same thing... is the QWERTY too high? What I found is my elbows on the arm rests work as a pivot point and are at the same height. Now I have a full sized keyboard within the boundaries of an acoustic piano and a QWERTY table at an ideal height for long term use. When the support is attached, it's rock solid and plenty big for a safe spot for my coffee mug. :-)

@suzukifurb Putting this video on YouTube and thinking I can keep control over any originality the desk might have is like packing snow in a jar with the intention of enjoying it during summer. If you have the time, tools and talent (It demands all three) and wish to copy the concept, I would be grateful to see a pic and learn how it turns out for you. take your design, swap the qwerty and piano, put the piano platform at a 10 degree angle up so the keys point down towards you just ever so slightly. you dont have to put it on a slider either because its on top of the qwerty. message me if you want a design specs but im sure you can manage since you designed this. looks great!
