What are today's large companies saying about the value of global competence in their employees? How can schools and businesses work together to best achieve this end?

In the spring of 2011, Wisconsin State Superintendent Tony Evers visited two schools that demonstrate the power of global literacy. That afternoon he helped kick off a dialogue between educators and business representatives about how they can work together to ensure students graduate with the global competence, the cultural adaptability, businesses are looking for. This video features many of the best parts of the day.

Featured programs include a multiple language immersion high school and a fourth-grade teacher who takes his class to Denmark every year.

Participants in the business panel include Kimberly Bors, Johnson Controls; Tim Sullivan, (at that time with) Bucyrus, and Steve Wasser, Harley Davidson.

The on-line video series and website, Global Wisconsin, launched the same day as this video at http://www.ecb.org/global/ . It features profiles of some incredible international education experiences.

Produced by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Music: "DragonFly" by Brian Boyko.
