Vulcain Tonneau Millesime 1928 Cricket Wrist Alarm Armbandwecker

Here a video of a quite new model of the famous watch manufacture Vulcain in Le Locle, Switzerland Jura, the Vulcain Tonneau Millesime 1928. The modern wristalarm was invented by this firm in the 40th. Many presidents of the USA were fans of the Vulcain Cricket. After stopping the production because of the quartz crisis, the watch expert Bernard Fleury reanimated the brand with private money. Now it is owned by the PRATA - group.
In a nice villa in Le Locle the watches are assembled with a modified old Vulcain Cricket 120 calibre. I have visited the little factory myself and could watch the watchmakers at their delicate work.

The movement now has the name Vulcain V11. 17 Jewels, 18000 A/h, Exactomatic balance. 191 parts, manual winding. Date function with quickset.

Operation manual:

Crown at 3 o'clock in position "0", knob pulled out = winding of movement spring and alarm spring clockwise and counterclockwise. Alarm is activated.

Crown at 3 o'clock in position "1" = Alarm deactivated, crown is free.

Crown at 3 o'clock in position "2", knob pulled out = setting of the time (only forward)

Crown at 3 o'clock in position "2", knob pushed in = setting of the alarm (only backward)

Pusher at 10 o'clock = quickset of the date

The watchcase is made of stainless steel with a resonance back. Each watch has an individual production number. It is waterresistant 50 meters , sapphire crystal.

Hier ein aktueller Armbandwecker der Traditionsmanufaktur Vulcain in Le Locle im Schweizer Jura. Es handelt sich um die Vulcain Tonneau Millesime 1928. Bekanntlich ist der moderne Armbandwecker aus den 40er Jahren eine Erfindung dieser Firma. Namhafte amerikanische Präsidenten waren Fans dieser Uhr und trugen sie. Nachdem die Firma in der Quarzkrise aufgehört hatte zu existieren, hat der Uhrenenthusiast Bernhard Fleury mit privatem Kapital die Marke und die Manufaktur „wiederbelebt". Nunmehr gehört die Marke zur PRATA Gruppe.
In einer alten Villa in Le Locle werden die Uhren mit dem modifiziertem alten Vulcain Cricket Kaliber montiert. Von der uhrmacherischen Kompetenz konnte ich mich bei einem Besuch der Manufaktur selbst überzeugen.

Das Kaliber wird jetzt mit Vulcain V21 bezeichnet. Es verfügt über 17 Jewels, hat 18000 A/h und verfügt über eine typische Lagerung der Unruhe (Exactomatic) 191 Teile. Die Datumsfunktion verfügt über eine Schnellverstellung mit Korrekturdrücker.

Die Bedienung:

Krone bei 3 Uhr in Position „0", Drücker außen = Aufziehen der Uhr und des Weckers durch Drehen nach oben und unten, Wecker aktiviert.

Krone bei 3 Uhr in Position „1" = Wecker abgestellt, Krone im Freilauf.

Krone bei 3 Uhr in Position „2", Drücker außen = Verstellen der Uhrzeit (nur vorwärts)

Krone bei 3 Uhr in Position „2", Drücker hereingedrückt = Verstellen der Weckzeit (nur rückwärts)

Drücker bei 10 Uhr = Datumschnellverstellung

Das Gehäuse besteht aus Edelstahl mit gedrücktem Resonanz-Boden, welcher fortlaufend nummeriert ist.

The little numbers "10", "30" and "50" are the minutes between the hours for the adjusting of the alarm time. Some wrist alarms have theese numbers. The only watch with an alarm setting with a real minute hand is the Omega Memomatic (two disks with a marker on it)
