Janette Carter and her brother Joe Carter (children of A.P. and Sara Carter) perform "Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone?" at the Carter Family Fold in the Poor Valley, Scott County, Virginia. Shot by Alan Lomax and crew, July 23, 1983. For more information about the American Patchwork filmwork, Alan Lomax, and his collections, visit http://culturalequity.org. [03.22.06]
God bless them all. Rest in peace. Your time on this earth was rough and I know what it was like to have remote parents. Jeanette, I have read your books and have walked on the land you walked with your Daddy I am certain there were many hard times when you wished you had more love from him.. I hope you are holding his hand in Heaven He had a mission - you preserved his gift for the American people more than any one else Does this answer the question posed by the song? Thanks for post

Many years ago I went to the Carter Family fold and it was a religious experience for me.I am so glad my parents were with me.To go up the hill and stand before the graves of Sara and A.P. and sing was awesome and made the hair on my neck stand up !I saw Janette and Joe that trip.I know they are all singing in the heavenly choir.I sing this song often and I hope someone will sing it over my remains when I pass. Thanks be to God for the folks who made this music AND those who preserved it !

I miss my Aunt. She was full of life. Joe was always quiet and would rather sit and talk to people.
