Depicts scenes at the Immigration Depot and a nearby dock on Ellis Island. Appears to show, first, a group of immigrants lined up to board a vessel leaving the island, then another group arriving at the island and being directed off of the dock and into the Depot by a uniformed official.

My grandfather immigrated to the U.S. from England when he was a baby, though he was about 20 years too late to go through Ellis Island. My grandmother's ancestors immigrated from Ireland, in the early 1800's. I love learning about family history. Even family history that isn't my own, hence my watching an Ellis Island video :P

my grandfather & his brother came through ellis straight from sweden when they were teens.

They came with the last name berkstraad, sons of nels berkstraad. america gave them the last name of nelson. ( nels son). true story.

@pompei1968 The US doesn't have an official language. Also you're only an immigrant if you were born in X country and moved to Y country to live. If you have kids in Y country those kids will be citizens (not immigrants) to country Y. So not everyone in the US is a immigrant. Also any US land that once belonged to other countries is US land now either by treaties, pacts, or wars. If we went by what you're saying then I guess the east coast of the US is still England's.
