Opened in January 2009, the Metro is making Dominicans feel like they are in New York City. A collection of large public art is on display at several of its 16 stations.

Since October 2009, the second line of the Metro is under construction, which will run from Los Alcarrizos to San Isidro, which is at the other side of the Ozama River.
