How close is the bassline to The Monkees Valleri?

The last minute must be Brix's pop sensibilities creating genius from brilliance.

Best riff ever.

The rhythm section is on fire on this tune.

It is the riff from Valerie which they built a song around. No more a ripoff than the innumerable rock bands that borrowed riffs and chord progressions from Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, etc...and built their own song around them. We praise so many of the current great rock acts for their creativity but so many of their songs you could find a classic or obscure blues song it was based on. Of course, a lot of this incestuous borrowing occurs between current or recent acts also.

I got everything I want except for money..... really

@gregasmc They are quite similar, but actually both the notes and the chords are different, so it's really not a rip off job at all. Good ear, though

@Lieu3C4 ... you would remain a knob...

In this day and age of sick and wicked in the hood, one wonders just how much Barmy were understood, let alone America with its gun laws and its airs of freedom needs full liberties to act without much care as if one day our real concern would be how well we lair. Once I wondered if I had murdered everyone would I be a murderer or the purist No.1.
