Wow - Mark Owings. There's a name to conjure with. I still have my ancient guide to the SF Fantasy Publishers that you did with Jack Chalker. Cool.

You are effectively right that the de Camp book was the first s&s anthology. There was a thing called Shanadu, ed. Robert Briney about ten years earlier, doubly ahead of its time in being a shared-world anthology. But that's so obscure that I've never seen a copy except on somebody else's bookshelves.

Kind of wish you had picked different music. Doesn't fit, to my mind.
