yes it means copper because Cyprus has a lot of copper on the island .Cyprus means copper.kyprus is copper.

Kypros in Greek means Cyprus.Not cypres.Cypres is the tall tree which can be found among the graves.The name derives from an ancient Greek man named Kyparissos who was in love with a woman who unfortunately died. So as he thought that his life has no meaning after he prayed to gods to make him a tree next to her buried body and this is what happened as they respected his desire.
