Elmo and Jessie sometimes have big feelings when they remember Uncle Jack, but Elmos dad Louie reminds them that it helps to talk about their feelings.

When Families Grieve launches April 14th at 8 p.m. on PBS (check local listings) with a television special featuring Katie Couric, Elmo, and the courageous stories of families coping with the death of a parent. Visit sesamestreet.org/grief to find out more.

  • For all of you who are saying that its about time they talk about death. They DID talk about death back in the 80's when Mr. Hooper died. The cast cried right there on set! Do your research, people.

But, it is nice that they are sending that reminded out about learning about death now.

  • wow, sesame street actually has the balls to talk about death to children which actually makes sense

  • Louie has a SWEET bowling shirt :D

  • Seasame street handled it beautifully when Mr Hooper died

  • @BeatlesAmiYumi The same feelings happened when Wheel of Fortune announcer Charlie O'Donnell passed on to the next life. The show is gonna be a lot different now.

  • @flwrgrl13 Gosh! I'm really sorry about your hamster! Really, I am! I felt the same way when my grandpa died in March. I even fely that way when my Aunt Cheryl died of cancer.

  • Very Powerful. How many other Kids shows teach us that we shouldn't be afraid to express our feelings? Sesame Street beats Barney the Dinosaur any day.

  • i remember last year, my hamster Sandy died....she was a little overweight and i thought she was going to have babies but it turns out that she died even though i gave her food and water and cleaned her cage

i was so mad when she did, but i got over it the next day

  • Go Jessie and Elmo!

  • awww that was really touching :,)

  • @AlalineBond No it isn't. Death is a natural part of life and it affects many children. There's nothing wrong with talking about death or educating children about it.

  • Louie looks like a recolored Telly. Also apparently Louie is in the military.
