هل هذه الدنيا ظلام -- في ظلام مستمر
Is this world filled of never-ending darkness?

يا أمي مدي لي يديكِ -- عسا يزايلني الضجر
O my Mother!

May be my loneliness will go away

امشي أخاف تعثرا -- وسط النهار أو السحر
When I walk, I fear tripping
Be it the middle of day or night

لا أهتدي في السير إن -- طال الطريق و إن قَصُر
I don't walk straight on any journey...
Whether the road is short or long..

أمشي أحاذر أن يصادفني -- إذا اخطو خطر
I walk carefully, if I make a mistake, I'll be in trouble

و الأرض عندي ينسوي -- منها البسائط و الحفر
And the earth for me is the same...
Its straight roads and holes

عكازتي هي ناظري -- هل في جمادٍ من نظر
My stick is my sight,
Do inanimate objects have sight?

يجري الصغار و يلعبون -- و يرتعون ولا ضرر
The kids run and play...
And have fun without any danger...

و أنا ضرير قاعد في -- عُقر داري مستقر
And I am blind, sitting there...stable in the safety of my home

الله يلطفي بي و يصرف -- ما أقاسي من قدر
Allah has been kind to me, and will change what I go through, by his power.
