In 1995 Green Day sang about masturbation and angst. In 2005 on the American Idiot album, they made a politically charged, conceptual rock album with 8-12 minute long ballads about growing up in America. I don't see how the two are the same. I've been listening to Green Day since I was 11 and I can say that they've grown up with me and I like their new stuff as much as their old stuff. I just think their new stuff is different and that's a good thing.

I just found this video and I might just have to pay attention to this blog from now on, but that's beside the point. American Idiot the musical is NOT gay, and you wanna know why? Guess who's doing 50 performances as the one and only "St. Jimmy"? Yeah, that's right, Green Day front man Billie Joel Armstrong. (Granted he took a week off and right now Melissa Ethridge is playing the role.) And they're proud of this musical, so I think we, as Green Day fans, should be proud too.
