How can you wach a show and game at the same time...

I have my direct tv cable box from direct tv, a tv, and a hd-pvr gaming edition. can i just put wires intoo my tv and record from there?
-
So I can't record TV if I don't have a Satellite? I can't plug those cables directly in my TV?

You need something that hooks up via component wires. You can hook it up to your tv, but you're going to need component wires coming from the cable box I think, or you need to get one.

No, you can use the Hauppauge PVR to record shows. You just hook it up to your satellite with the component wires. You can also use the free programs that come with it and in infrared adapter for your satellite box, so you can program shows, and have it change the channel automatically.

i've heard that you can only use this to record from the playstation, is that true?
I want something, which i can use to record from the TV and from the PlayStation, must I pay attention on something particular?

@lirya7 Just put your cable component wires into the bottom set on the back of the pvr (as in vid) and then a set out of the top set of the hauppauge to your tv.

@jasonmode7
yeah, pretty much. It's just that the cables go into the Hauppauge first, then out to the receiver, and monitor out to tv.
