HOW TO RECORD TV, PS3, or XBOX GAMING in 1080 HD with a Hauppauge PVR (Model #1212 I paid $175). Three "HOW TO's" in one:

1. Setting up the Hauppauge PVR with a Surround Sound System to Record TV
2. The above + be able to game at the same time.
3. How to record PS3/XBOX Gameplay in HD with your Hauppauge PVR and Surround Sound System.

Please keep in mind you'll need a fast computer with a good graphics card to capture, edit, and render HD media. I'm using a VAIO w/ quad core Intel i7 processors, 4G ram, and an NVidia GeForce 425M video card with 1 Gig dedicated memory).

ALSO: You can record both gameplay and tv in digital 5.1 surround sound using optical cable instead of the red/white component wires. I haven't gotten around to picking up any yet, but will down the road.

PLEASE RATE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE, AND CHECK OUT SOME OF MY PS3 VIDS in HD to see the quality, and the ass-whoppins, lol. Peace

You're welcome. I don't watch that show, but thanks for the heads up, lol.

  • so basically just use the reciever in the exact way as you would the back of a tv ... im right yes ? i get one toomorow the gaming edition with green light

  • @jasonmode7

yeah, pretty much. It's just that the cables go into the Hauppauge first, then out to the receiver, and monitor out to tv.

  • How can you wach a show and game at the same time...

  • I have my direct tv cable box from direct tv, a tv, and a hd-pvr gaming edition. can i just put wires intoo my tv and record from there?

  • So I can't record TV if I don't have a Satellite? I can't plug those cables directly in my TV?

  • @IraQiTheGameR

You need something that hooks up via component wires. You can hook it up to your tv, but you're going to need component wires coming from the cable box I think, or you need to get one.

  • @IraQiTheGameR

No, you can use the Hauppauge PVR to record shows. You just hook it up to your satellite with the component wires. You can also use the free programs that come with it and in infrared adapter for your satellite box, so you can program shows, and have it change the channel automatically.

  • i've heard that you can only use this to record from the playstation, is that true?

I want something, which i can use to record from the TV and from the PlayStation, must I pay attention on something particular?

  • i thoght hauppage pvrs dont have hdmi inputs... how would you record in 1080 without hdmi?

  • @lirya7 Just put your cable component wires into the bottom set on the back of the pvr (as in vid) and then a set out of the top set of the hauppauge to your tv.
