Rick: "Take her with you Sascha and be sure she gets home."
Sascha: *excited* "Yes boss!"
Rick: "And come right back."
Sascha: *deflated* "Yes boss."
I love it.

Best movie ever. And Humphrey Bogart is one of the greatest actors ever.

"He won. I love you, but he pays me."

@asbte NO WAY, with all those superheros and such i feel safe. Then again who is a modern Humphrey Bogart? I can not think of one, He is believable in every role, great acting can be the only explanation. Or more modern day actors should take roles in a variety rather than becoming "The-'insert genre'-guy". I bet you can think of at least one, i am drawing a blank.

love this scene

@asbte Because films as good as this come along once or twice - they're not every day films. There's nothing wrong with Iron Man, nothing wrong with Batman, nothing wrong with any of the films you've mentioned - they serve a purpose which is to entertain for a couple of hours. They've never tried to be great cultural cornerstones.
Don't be so quick to judge everything by the standards of the greatest of all time, or everything falls short.

i know i've heard the bartenders voice sampled in a song when he says "i love you"

@asbte there's a lot of goodscripts out there, but they are not from hoolywood, start watching french movies, england, spanish, chinese movies, and you will be suprise, hoolywood this days its just bussnes, and if the script dosent have action it will never see the light.
@asbte But all the movies you've just named are action movies, an almost completely different genre from Casablanca. Action movies don't necessarily need this high level of writing to work, because they're not of a script-driven genre. Dramas are, however, and when you consider what today's drama writers have come up with, like Shawshank Redemption, Match Point, Vera Drake, American Beauty, Fargo, Philadelphia, Gosford Park etc., I'd say the "american public" has nothing to worry about.
