Never So Lonely-The Kostars

The Kostars were made up of some of the members of Luscious Jackson. This song is from an MTV show called Squirt TV that was the MTV version of the same show that originally aired on cable access. It was a really neat show with alot of unique musical guests. I actually had recorded this song on a cassette when my stereo was hooked to the tv and had it on a mix tape.

Around the time this album came out, I would wander around stores like amoeba and rasputin to buy cd's that caught my attention for whatever reason with no idea who the artists were. I discovered some great music, and wasted a bit of money too, but this was one of the absolute gems I discovered. By far my favorite 'lazy summer afternoon' album. And it still sounds great today!

Me too! I used to love doing that, you really can't do that too much today, there's just sooo much music out there and alot of it is just junk, but back then, it was really neat to do just that. I found alot of cool music that I personally dug, and yes, some that were a waste of money. lol. Some of my favorite bands I found like that, Big Hate, Lifter, Eleven. lots of neat stuff.

You know, I'm not really sure. They did this as a little side project to Luscious Jackson, so they definitely did more music with LJ. After Grand Royal went out, I never really heard too much from them. I'm sure they're still around making music somewhere. The whole Grand Royal thing was really sad, Luscious Jackson, Sean Lennon, and a couple of others, that was my fave record label by far. Glad you enjoy the song!

I remember watching this original Squirt TV broadcast and finding out they were doing the album.

Jill Cunniff put out a solo album a while back that is very much in the spirit of the Kostars album, though I don' tknow what Vivian Trimble is up to.
