This doctrine has brought much joy to many including myself. It continues to be an inspiration of love for God for many. Mark Kielar shows how election is from eternity past and how Scripture plainly teaches this.

  • "This doctrine has brought much joy to many including myself."

So, a doctrine gives you joy? Not God? Not Jesus?

    I'm sorry I can't buy this ... something's wrong.

  • Who's the doctrine about? If I say, "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.", I've just presented doctrine. If I were to say that that doctrine gave me joy, would you say, "Well, it's not Jesus giving you joy! It's not God!" I hope you wouldn't.

  • Well, I just want to ring a bell about the fact we tend to replace God with doctrines, grace or His blessings.

Nothing can replace Him - He's the One Who gives joy and comfort.

While He uses a lot of things for that ( music, His Word, His favor et. ) we have to be carefull that all these things have no value in themselves - their value comes from God, the Source of all good and perfect gifts for us.

People find comfort in many things and some of them might be illusorial...

  • So if a doctrine is speaking about and exalting God, do you hold that we're replacing God with the doctrine? I don't follow your reasoning, if that's your reasoning.

  • You missed my point and I won't follow a debate about this.

A doctrine can be true or false, it has to do with the truth. Joy and comfort have to do with relationships. Then we don't mix things meant for different purposes.

I can't say it more clear than that. You can blame my English - is not my first language :)

  • I understand what you're saying, but I don't agree with it. Since you say you don't want to discuss this matter any further, I'll just end by saying that a doctrine such as "Jesus Christ is risen from the dead." can bring a person much joy and has and will continue to. The teaching (which is all doctrine is) can bring joy and comfort.

  • New Covenant is eternal and those who are in it eternally saved and elected from the beginning of times.

  • @horseman528 I agree with you, but would like to add concerning Romans 9, that the whole chapter is about the old and new covenant. The old one, the firstborn, »Esau«, has been rejected, the new one, the younger Jacob, has been blessed (Christ). Those who are in Christ are elected. THE OLD COVENANT is rejected, not some random people (destined to hell), and other egotisticals elected for eternity… Christ Jesus is chosen, and all those who believe in Him.

  • The reasoning here isn't so different from "seeker sensitive" approches to scripture.

  • you peace of shit

  • I love and cherish this truth, thank you for posting!

  • @LaneCh and anyone else who believes in calvinism, you have no assurance of salvation. God didnt choose you, God draws and you have to either accept or reject. Whosoever will...

  • @LaneCh Why dont you be truthful to your audience and tell them the other side of your "joyful" doctrine that there is a good chance too that God predestined most of you to go to hell? You bold and underline "chose us" in ephesians, yet you ignore the "IN HIM". In Him, destroys your calvinistic heresy. We are God's servants when we come to believe in Jesus Christ, not slaves or robots. Your destroying the simplicity in Christ with your man made theology. @horseman528 you hit the nail in the head

  • @horseman528 Did you read what I asked you to read by AW Pink? Get back to me after you read that. Thanks

  • @realtalk1986 You correct me if I'm wrong. Calvanism teaches that God calls only certain ones and God hardens the majority of mankind so they can make no other choice but evil? You get most of this from Rom 8 and 9 I assume. Who does God harden? Those who have already chosen to harden their own hearts and reject the truth of the gospel. Rom 1:18-26 When it says "God gave them up..." it only reasons that God did not wish this to happen but it was caused by their own wrong choices.

  • @k0smon Hey. Can you please list me the verses that prove you can lose your salvation? Thanks! :-)
