  • I'd rather a political book tell most of the facts, including bad ones, than a portion that is only positive, whitewashing, etc.

  • @TonyPerr Oh, the one where Marr gets ripped apart? Ahh, that made me laugh, I loved watching that one and sending it to people, he mentions that in his biography actually, how he knew how to reply to Marr as hes so predictable. An epic man is that Mandelson..

  • @Matt12128 Well I think you should have written the forward in his biography:) I may disagree with you on this man, however I must admit to admiring how he handled a previous interview with Andrew Marr. I do not know if you saw it? Both my wife and I were laughing our heads off in how he crushed every question that he had, by Marr's unfortunate lack of research. I have never seen anything quite like it before!:) I have enjoyed sparring with you!

  • @TonyPerr I wish man, I just think hes so epic. Hes an absolute bastard and thats why I love him :')

  • @Matt12128 Firstly sorry for the typo in my last response (quite - quiet). I have issues about our so called democratic system as well, but that is not his fault (I think:) I admire you for your loyalty to this man! Matt12128 your not Peter Mandelson are you?

  • @TonyPerr Well, its not like hes going to walk into Witney and run for election there is he. Oh hi Mr Cameron, don't mind me, I'll just run in a stupidly Conservative area. Also, why should it matter if he became a Lord to be part of the cabinet? It allows it in our constitution... He was never voted out of his constituency in Hartlepool so technically, democracy says he should still be that MP as he never lost a vote by the people :)

  • @Matt12128 I thought you had gone quite:) My last point still stands, and if had tried to go to the trouble of going for a safe seat, that would have said volumes about his popularity. But he didn't, so it is pure speculation.

  • @TonyPerr Yeah, but the fact is, he was voted in during the 1992 election, finally giving up his seat in 2003 so he could become the UK representative as the European Trade commisioner. However, lets face it, if he wasn't made a peer, he could have easily won a bi-election in a Labour safe seat. Plus, the fact that the country needed him overall, he was actually a brilliant Business secretary, so good that Cameron decided to place Ken Clark as his shadow..

  • If he was proved innocent then fair enough! However it goes to show that there are ways of circumnavigating democracy (giving someone a peerage is one of them) by installing a person in an important position, despite that fact (I repeat) that he has not been voted in by the people. I would concede that the man is a very clever politician. No one would deny that! I also take your point about the media. They are in fact the King makers in this country!

  • @TonyPerr And also, I like how you say that he wasn't actually a member of parliament when actually due to our bicameral system it means he is indeed allowed to become part of the executive due to the fused system in which the legilslature, judiciary and executive fuse over. Therefore, he was allowed to take that position. Also, the fact that he did not indeed even want to take the place at first but Tony Blair himself convinced him to take the Cabinet role (With peerage) to help the country..
