Heya Tom, I think your technique is awesome. although I do agree you should record it with a good mic and have it input directly into your sound card.... this will bring out the rim shots much better.... and NO need to get a better camera or drum.. * geeeeesh! Thumbs up my friend,

@Morecollab I think it might be the camera he's using, it probably doesn't pick up audio very well.

get a new drum and it sounds like the snare is turned off and if it is turn it on your rim shots will pop ou more and and will sound alot better
