Tribute to the Space Shuttle Program

The Space shuttle is one of the US space agency NASA developed space shuttle type which exists of several components and is officially called Space Transportation system (STS). The components are an external fuel tank and two solid-propellant rockets beside the space shuttle (Orbiter). Shuttle is even sometimes called of the Orbiter Space, besides, the name of the Space shuttle is also spread. The shuttle arose from the attempt to develop a reusable spacecraft. This should lead to cost savings compared with the rockets usual till then with which all rocket stages could be used only once. However, the expected savings could not be reached; today a shuttle start costs just a half a milliard dollars, possibly five times a lot like a start with an unmanned disposable rocket of the same pay load capacity. The space shuttle can bring at the same time 24.5 metric tons of pay load as well as 7 astronauts in a low revolution of the earth road (between approx. 200-and 650-kilometre road height). Besides, the shuttle is able help of Andockadaptern to dock to a space station (today International Space Station, earlier to Me). The decision on this lengthening has not liked till this day.

My Mom was dating a man who worked for NASA and he said "NASA is stoping the space shuttle for now... Because were getting New Designs for the space shuttle to lower launch cost"

Yes, I agree but it comes to one point in which a vehicle faith is decided by technological and economical aspects. Why not be optimistic for the future, surely we´ll have something else to appreciate.

wow, great job on this, very beautiful.

I'm somewhat sad that the fleet is retiring this year, but very honored that California, and specifically Southern California (Los Angeles), will become the final resting place for Space Shuttle Endeavor, which means it will be close enough to where I live to make it possible for me to see it someday in person.

For everything that happened... the Shuttle proves that the exploration of space isn't done. What will follow will be based on what was learned before. And innovation and courage are the other 2 horses that will pull humankind to other places... to the planets and one day... the stars.

@NewGameDE The Space Shuttle was more than a vehicle. It was a government program for manned/cargo into Earth orbit. During it's history, nobody tried to compete with it's design. Money can be made in Space, telecommunication is proof of that. But with all the things to make that vehicle go up plus the risks... And NASA facing downsized checks... times change. X-15s and Apollo went the same way. A well financed company, with better designs and goals will be the shuttle's replacement.
