This video is introduction to basic consept of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, and is produced under project ManuVAR http://www.manuvar.eu (Copyright: ManuVAR, VTT, TNO, IFF). The objective of ManuVAR is to develop an innovative technology platform and a framework to support high value manual work throughout the product lifecycle. ManuVAR will cover ergonomics, safety, work assistance, and training. It includes various people from designers to factory workers, operators, maintenance personnel, and end-users.

ManuVAR is a FP7 NMP Lean manufacturing project, Duration 2009 2012, Total budget € 9.7 M, Effort 690 person-months, 18 partners, 7 countries, Coordinator VTT ( Technical Research Centre of Finland ).

This video is outcome of LEFA project, facilitated by FIMECC - Finnish Metals and Engineering Competence Cluster.

LEFA is to develop novel user centered R&D methods based on real-time virtual prototypes and environments for the mobile machines. By the novel methods and technologies to be developed within the project the usability, safety and life-cycle efficiency of the existing products of the participating companies are studied.

Goals for VTT research are:
- To improve field of view analysis in VR environment
- To integrate the Human Centered Virtual Concept Design approach to companies current design processes
- To improve human-machine interaction (HMI) by using VR systems
