@rita191919 Really - you should come to the yahoo group Poicephalus, lots of Red-Bellied owners there and they will tell you about the talking abilities of their RB's - and most in context also.
@Sassicat Really? I never heard that about the Red Bellieds. I've raised lots of Meyers and Senegals. Meyers are my favorite and they are just the sweetest little birds!!
@rita191919 It depends on the species. This is an African Red-Bellied Parrot, and they are well known for their speaking ability. Many that own them would say they are a very close second to the Grey, even better than macaws. LOL :-)
@Sassicat I watched both videos....they are definately talking!! I must not be a good conversationalist as my babies never talk to me!! They smooch with me and sometimes learn a whistle......but I don't think I've ever heard them talking.
@Sassicat here it is - it the one of a 7 week old baby trying to talk and you can clearly her Hi baby is "Baby trying to talk" the actual file name of the video is Sassicat aviary 2.wmv
@rita191919 oops that was a typo, this particular bird was 5 months old, but I do have videos of a 6 week old baby and a 16 week old baby that clearly talk.....look up the vid that is titled What are you doin, that is the 16 week old.....I can't remember the title of the 6 week old.
@Sassicat I tried to join the Poi group but yahoo is having some problems. I will try again later. Thanks!!
