Turrican II is a classic platform shooter featuring a robot with numerous really nifty weapon systems. Including the ability to turn into an invincible spinning ball of pointy death.

This was a request by revolutionactiondk and ModernRelik, made on my 64 subscriber special request video.

"Overlooked Oldies" is a series of let's play videos of retro games that I somehow never played back in the day. Many of them will be suggestions made by subscribers, particularly on binary milestone request videos.

Intro music is from the classic "cracktro" by SCoopex. The full version can be heard and seen here:

  • Sorry Jim, how you can talk of Turrican II if you do not know anything of it? the character is a man on a battlesuit.

Turrican II is one of the best games of all times. The Amiga version is a fantastic piece of art.

Great playability and very cool levels. The best music for a game on year 1991 and beyond.

  • @paulbrk oh I can talk a lot about things I know nothing about :D

Seriously though, most of my videos are more about sharing my first impressions than giving any real useful knowledge or insight into the game. At least that's the case with the overlooked oldies series.

Definitely agree about the music. Chris Huelsbeck FTW.

Also I did a longplay of the game too if you're interested in my impressions after having learned more of the game.

  • Epic game indeed. Interesting to see someone playing it for the first time - I've had my hand fused to the joystick for weeks because of this one, back in the days. You should've watched the title sequence, where they show a few techniques you only discovered later. There's a cool slideshow-story there, too :-)

  • @idogendel I saw the title sequence afterwards and realised what I was missing. I also did a follow up series where I play through to the end.

  • this is one of my favorite games ever on the amiga i reakon u were still in nappies when this came out.Lol

  • @footballisrubbish I was 10 when this came out. So yes :P

  • @thomasoring The music does the game justice too.

  • Man i have been playing video games WAY too much by most peoples standards, for 20 years, and i will never forget my experience with this game! :)

  • @Ashen83 Hurrican looks really cool, I'll have to try it out.

I did a video about The Chaos Engine, but for some reason it failed to grab me the way Turrican did. Maybe it's more of an acquired taste.

  • "That is fucking epic" haha

Really cool game, there's a freeware remake out there callled Hurrican you might want to check out. Also the english accented announcer reminded me of The Chaos Engine, another of the very best Amiga games
