"Vien, diletto e in ciel la luna!" from the Second Act of Bellini's "I Puritani"
Elvira - Anna Netrebko

The Metropolitan Opera

When I visited YouTube last quite a long time ago there were almost no videos from "I Puritani" with Netrebko. Now the situation seems to have changed. :) Hope my video is a normal quality anyway.
I'm so sorry but I haven't learnt to add subtitles yet. I add the English text here, so that you could get the idea of what shes singing about.

"Come, beloved, the moon is shining,
There is silence all around us.
Until the break of day
come, rest upon my heart.
Hurry, dear Arturo.
Come back to your Elvira.
She weeps and long for you.
Come back to her love!..."

  • *thoughtfully and ironically at the same time...*

Netrebko-haters and Netrebko-lovers are a wonderful and quite instructive sight to watch. :D

  • Her voice is beautiful ^_^

  • @User320g My feelings exactly!

  • @User320g Well said! I agree. Those older singers were great (I especially love Joan Sutherland), but that combination of snobbery and nostalgia so prevelent on Youtube makes me ill.

  • Even Gheorghiu sings this better and she`s a spinto.

  • I'm not much of a fan of her even after hearing her sing at the Met a few times - YOU do have to admit that she is a fine singer and she can actually act a part well too - SHe does sing this quite well

  • I AM SO SICK OF OPERATIC SNOBS!!! Opera is close to die. Like it or not, it is changeing, and it should change. Callas, Tebaldi, Sutterland... They are dead! Netrebko is one of the greatest sopranos today. She has everything including vocal technique. Live with opera like this or die with jour divas who were far from perfect... They all had something to critisize and you know that, but still, you are silent about it... That's hypocrite!!!!

  • Well, well, well. There is a saying: The best captains are on the shore! And there are a bunch of captains on this page. If this was my channel I would disable the comments, so I wouldn't have to read all that garbage in my mail. Why can't people just enjoy the music and enjoy the fact that there a hundreds of different interpretations and NOT just the old and famous. Duh!!!

  • WOW! Effortless.

  • on aime ou on n'aime pas'c'est mon cas)mais il ne faut pas en dégouter les autres,il faut dire que je viens d'entendre Nino Machaidze et la difference est trop grande
