Yesterday, I played against Alex52795 over Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I believe I played him before. Either he's gotten a lot better or I've gotten a lot worse--probably the latter, and some of the former, as it felt like I was out of practice.

I don't play SSBB as much as I do the other online Wii games for the reason that I normally have to wait such a long time in the Online Practice Stage when playing a random match. That means I often have to set aside at least an hour--it's never taken me that long to find opponents (the longest was 40 minutes among the ones I've timed), but the disconnects during the wait can bump it up to that much before I can get some matches. For some reason, nearly all of my disconnects in SSBB are when I wait for people. Why is that?

Match #1
Bowser
Green Hill Zone
Alex must have won like 20 straight matches in a row. The first few, I could barely even touch him. Then, thigns turned around somewhere during this match, and while I still couldn't win, I could at least be more of a match. He's really good at figuring out what I'll do next. It's like as if the lag wasn't even there. I try to predict, but I always predict wrong. That's why I struggle so much against people online--every time I think they'll go here, they go there, and every time I think they'll do this, they'll do that.

Match #2
Yoshi
Mario Circuit
This was the last match before he stopped playing. I wonder if he was waiting for me to win or something. I suppose I used the Egg Roll a bit too much here, but it was the one move I could be sure I could even hit him with.

  • I counted... 3 aerials (none in the first match) to about 3000 down b's. And 1 grab from both of you too. From alex's part, he had way too much b and side-b... but that's just my opinion.

  • My first few matches against Alex were using my normal way of playing, which didn't work. IN fact, in the very first match, he KOed me when he was at 6% damage, and this was without any healing items.

After a whole lot of trial and error, it seems I could actually hit him with certain characters' down specials, so I went with that. It's a specific strategy for a specific person.

  • I agree. Also a lot of Side-B. By the way, if you have trouble predicting, sometimes, when people decide they want to do a grab, if they fail to grab you, they may try to grab you again and keep trying. They may also do that with some other attacks. also, I couldn't stop laughing when you beat up Sandbag, but he dropped a bomb and killed you. Never thought there was danger in attacking him.

  • I like attacking Sandbag when he appears to see what comes out of him, but it seems Alex wasn't too concerned with such curiosities.

I always have to gather my thoughts when something doesn't go as planned, as that's the way I think. So I end up retreating a lot to figure out what I can do next.

  • I agree XRoihuX. Yoshi is annoying. I like Link and Snake. Mr.Game and Watch smash is incredible.

  • That's what she said

    sorry

Anyway you're not too bad. You should just go on the defensive a little more.

  • Thanks.

And to add to what I said before, some of his attacks are annoying to the person on the opposite end.

I bet it's very fun when you're the one doing it.

  • By the way, I'm a fan of your vids.

  • Oh, sorry. . .

  • When did I ever say he was bad?

I just said some of his attacks are annoying.

  • You suck, Yoshi is the best.

  • Yoshi is one of the most annoying characters to me.

His Egg Roll has such freaking high priority and I can never get past it.

His b-air I think (I never played as Yoshi) is also so annoying due to the fact it hits so many times, and a good Yoshi player can spam that so much.

Also, you got lucky at 8:46.

If that bomb had exploded, you'd be done for.

  • It seems I was pretty cold, as the matches grew more and more even as the time went on. That I haven't played SSBB since then probably means I'm back to where I was when I began.
