  • @Antimortem ppl say that arts like Aikido are useless. I finally learned the truth. You have to know the proper time to use any technique, Akido, Wing Tsun or otherwise. There are no useless arts. Only ppl trying to use techniques in wrong situations. When your opponent is alert and active you need to be in striking or ground fighting mode. But once you have a guy stunned then locking, trapping or throwing arts can finish the fight because the guy is in no shape to counter.

  • Where in LA is this school?

  • as the great man, Bruce himself said 'a lock is accidental if not incidental'. Your prime objective is to strike but if a chanced lock arises then take it.

  • in otherworde, locking is not so usefull in the heat of battle

  • I like the way steve simplies these explainations. For me the most useful kali video on youtube

  • Would love to train with Guro Grody. I need to see if he has a seminar schedule...

  • excellent advice that so many people either don't know or don't train for.

Good training for this, if you have the time, is to move into positions for locks or throws without actually performing the lock or throw. Uke should be attacking repeatedly and constantly, slowly at first without contact then building up the speed and depth of the attack. Be like water my friends.

  • "Don't chase the lock"...Excellent advice...Great stuff, Mr. Grody..... as usual, it makes me wish I lived in L.A.!
