Updated shortened and lightened version of the British Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk I design, designed especially for fighting in the jungles of the far east. The rifles receiver and other components had metal removed to lighten the overall rifle. The rifle also has a distinct conical flash hider. The design is indeed lighter and shorter than the No. 4 Mk I however due to the late production not many of these carbines saw action in World War II. Production began in March 1944, and finished in December 1947.

This particular rifle was manufactured by BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Company).

  • @elduceseven already figured it out......it was a specific design of enfield made for a specific purpose that was relabled as a #5...not a #4 modified. there was many design changes from the #4 other than just lightening and shortening it.

  • @NewShooter60 read the title and the context, you'll figure it out.

  • that is not a #4, it is a #5 Jungle Carbine
