@austinl80 I would say opertunity for the lack of the beter word. The Land on the inside belonged to nobody. the whites were the first people to settle down there and build towns while the black tribes kept on moving where they could find food for them and their cattle. The whites didnt go to the interior of SA to take whatever land they could get. They wantet to get out of british rule in the cape colony. Go look it up."SA history 1836 Great trek"

Did you know that the land of south-africa belonged to nobody because the black tribes didnt stay in one place, they were nomad tribes, and there was a war going on between the black tribes called the "Mfecane". The whites saw the opertunity and came in and took the land.
