unless the black hole had a mass of 5% of our Galactic mass. Still true. However there are a couple problems, it's not due to to space dialation, but simply from the fact he skimmed corners. And 12 parsecs wasn't the distance from the nearest black hole, just the total distance he travelled (instead of the usual 18). Finally it is canon that he was actually telling the truth, regardless of what the scrpt said.

yes. it was obviously a joke. to anyone who doesn't get the joke, that line is all but meaningless, so why would she have even bothered? of course, that doesn't make the Maw explanation any less ridiculous: it completely ignores time dilation, as well as the fact that your CAR could get within 12 parsecs of a black hole with no problem.

Parsecs are a unit of distance not time, the exact quote is "making the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs". Much more impressive when you read the books and learn it takes stupidly large amounts of piloting skills to fly as close the the Maw ( a collection of black holes) as possible, to reduce both the time and the distance. Do you really know what you are talking about?

Actually, the EU explains that away with the fact that Solo was able to make the Kessel Run (a popular Galactic smuggling route) through a shorter route by going closer to the Maw black hole cluster, which let him make the journey in less than standard distance (18 parsecs). So what Han is really doing is showing off his skill at piloting and his ship's durability rather than its raw speed. And yes, I don't have a girlfriend due to the Jedi Code.

The explanation for them saying parsec was originally that han had no idea what he was talking about. A later expanded universe explanation has proven more popular and is semi-canon.
