I finaly got the chopper motor cleaned up and everything put back together. The motor was
so badly rusted it wouldn't rotate. However after some brute force I was able to get it so spin freely.
The bearings all seem to be smooth and in good condition. They even have grease on them still.

The wiring however is something to be desired. The wires are so old and brittle than the outer
sheath crumbles at the slightest touch. This is a bit of a hazard and I will eventually rewire the siren.
for now though I will leave it like so.

Im surprised by how low of an RPM the chopper has to rotate to start producing noise.
And oh boy once it get up to speed does it ever produce noise. I couldn't run the siren up to full speed without getting my neighbors all riled up. So the next video will be in my garage. It will be a full speed run with a shop vac attached to the blower pipe. Boy is that gonna be fun. :P

  • @TheFiremansavage oh, its the whole thing vibrating at 60 cycles when i kick the power on. The coils in the motor vibrate when current runs through them.
