After a bumpy start and some equipment problems Saturday, disabled Navy firefighter Kevin Baker began his 2,400 mile journey from Norman to Washington, D.C.
Hes making the ride on a hand-cycle — a bike powered by his hands — to call attention to the plight of disabled veterans and to support a new flag designed to honor fallen members of our nations military.
Baker plans to camp along the way and hopes to get help from the nations Freedom Riders, a group of motorcyclists who support the nations service men and women.
Baker figures his trip will take up to 15 weeks to complete. Hes carrying a petition and will encourage people to sign in support of Congress adopting the Honor and Remember flag as a new national symbol.
