Due to the attention of my first remake of Strobe, I took in some critique, and decided to revise and one-up the first video.

This version covers the full song, and covers some more subtle and intricate details. I hope you dig it!

SOFTWARE OVERVIEW:
- Ableton Live 8 with Propellerhead Reason as ReWire slave. (Reason makes the majority of the instrument sounds. Lead synths, piano, strings, organ, etc.)
- Native Instruments MASSIVE (Bass)
- Almost all percussion loops and samples are from the Xfer Sample CD.
- Various free mastering/imaging vsts from mda-vst.com
- Shaker/rainstick samples gathered from free sound search engines.
- Ambient rainforest drone from more found samples online that were assembled/mixed/exported from Logic Pro.

UPDATE (11/29/10):

  • Well..I had a chance to speak to deadmau5 on Ustream about this tonight. I showed him your video. He quoted it as "fucking narly" and made a joke about how many people strobe their cocks to this. Anyways - any reason you used Reason and Ableton? Reason is great, I personally hate Ableton (lol). He actually told me he used Reason for the main LEAD only. You seems to use it for everything

  • @TheOneManHero Oh wow, thanks! (I guess?)

I guess I used Reason because I like some of the sounds its capable of, but I like Ableton's sequencing and workflow. (I'm not a huge fan of sequencing in Reason.)

In an interview he said he used DCAM Synth Squad's Strobe (thus the name) for some lead sounds. Using Subtractor too seems to make sense.

  • Sometimes when im bored, i like to go and sit in a corner and pretend to be a panda.

  • @Jortender Me too!

  • Can we get some pics of the notes please? (:

  • @bugea7er Which notes? Music notes? You can get all that from the MIDI file in the description.

  • wow! this is awesome!! Sounds almost identical to the original.

  • That's a very nice remake you made! Good choice of yours to take Ableton and Reason, I prefer to work with FL Studio (I also did a remake of Strobe, check my channel if you like) but everybody has got his own style i guess ;-) Really nice! Like it!

  • Fix the delay on the sidechain.... it makes the synth have a swing which it shouldnt have.

  • Man please how do you do that sweep sound at 2:36?

  • pretty nice :P i felt almost 30% of the orginal :P but orginal is always best. ;)

  • Great remake. You're amazing at this, (:

  • @theINSIDEout001 Yea when i download the MIDI file and open it, nothing is in it
