Im 17 now and I see DC-7s and Connies on occasion, I am an aviation enthusiast. But i just cant begin to imagine what it must of been like back then to travel on aircraft like these. I mean air travel is now fast jets and such. Also to see Miami airport like this is kind of funny because I drive down there time to time and its such a hugh airport.

Yep and you had no problems to get up close and I don't know if it happened back in those days, but certainly before 2001, visit the flight deck durning the flight. If I see footage from the past like this...it looks so romantic and actually so peaceful.

Wow, what a great video - really enjoyed it and the music along with it is fantastic - much thanks

Hey Nick...thanks for posting. I flew on Connies out of Charlotte, NC all the time. When we moved North we went on a Connie, and at least once or twice a year back to Charlottte for visits thereafter...always on Connies. I loved seeing the old EAL Connies in their original livery. Lotsa memories there. Sorry we can't hear the rattle and hum of the big radials, or see how the old bird shook itself awake on the warm-up block before takeoff. They were truly alive...not like the jetliners of today.

Dude, awesome video! My Dad grew up around MIA in the 50s and 60s, he lived in Hialeah and frequented Corrosion Corner and other fun spots. He also hung out around Opa-Locka, and raced at Amelia Earhart and Masters Field.

should have remembered, HS buddy's father was a VP of NAL, my brother flew for them in the late 70s, now with Delta via Pan AM
"The Route of the Buccaneers" and "The Airline of the Stars" Remember seeing Sr pilot Skeeter Royal buzz the Great Miami Air Show in a 747 / 1970?
Thanks for posting! It's fun to see what MIA was like almost 60 years ago - this was back in the day when folks wouldn't think of getting onto an airplane without their best travelling suits. Your Grandparents seem like lovely people.

Yeah, unfortunately my grandparents are deceased... I was wondering where exactly this was filmed - this was before it was called Miami International Airport I believe.
