Flourishing is fine if used sparingly. Anything fancy you do with the cards is considered a flourish. I will spring, spin and snap the cards occasionally to emphasize an effect. For example in my ACR I will spin the card into the center of the deck. This is considered a flourishy move. They are nice to add here and there to spice things up. But as with any spice less is more.
Since flourishing is show off-ish people will get tired of it very quickly. Don't over do it.
