You can have differing gear ratios with a constant output axis. Basically you can do shit, without changing direction.

I have uploaded to youtube several vids for creating TRUE INVOLUTE internal and external gears with backlash and even sprockets using Autocad. The vid of the GEAR Word Document has the formulas and the gear terms to help with your gear and sprocket designs.

lol gotone of them at home as i was a lil kid i was interested int hese things and my father is making the circuit boards for Technical things and worked in a company that made motors with these Gears in it he sometimes brought me some of these motors or some wires or switches and i built for example an automatic door opener my dad showed me the working of the gears on the motor and well that was a planet gear i liked it and still have it on my desk
