This is the fourth excerpt of a presentation by Ira Chaleff for the 2009 Multi-Sector Forum of the Randall L. Tobias Center For Leadership Excellence at Indiana University. Chaleff stresses the need to research the topic of followership with a broad perspective. He suggests that it be explored in different cultures and that we look at followership in world affairs and political movements. We might examine how we socialize our children to accept authority and figure out how followers can resist toxic authority.. Ira Chaleff is a prominent executive coach and keynote speaker as well as the author of the management classic: "The Courageous Follower: Standing Up To & For Our Leaders".( Berrett-Koehler). He is also co-editor of "The Art of Followership" (a Warren Bennis Book published by Jossey-Bass). Ira Chaleff's website is: http://www.courageousfollower.net
