  • Weakest mount is a screw straight up into a 1.5" bottom of a joist - ditch the flanges, lengthen the two long pipes another 6 inches, drill through the sides into the wide side face of the joist and but bolts and washers through and nut it tight - or use 2x2 or 2x3 wood as sumbook mentioned, attached to the wide side face of the joist. Putting big lag hooks in the bottom is fine, the threads are huge and coarse. Just a suggestion, hate to see that rack fall onto someone or their car.
