What is the 15 minute photo challenge? One location, one lens and only 15 minutes to bag the best photos.

The best pictures can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/photogavin/sets/72157621881384366/

In this video photo expert Gavin Hoey http://www.gavtrain.com takes up the challenge to find and photograph stunning pictures in a wet summer garden. Armed only with an Canon SLR, 50mm lens and a beautiful garden to work in.

  • I would actually like to see how the picture looked before they came to photoshop. The more I watch tutorials and so on I think the shot doesn't have to be perfect at all, photoshop can fix it all.

Really would be cool if you could make an example with an before and after shot :-)

  • First thing I noticed as well. Oh well can imagine the confusion. Nice video! Like the other tutorials as well!

  • @Ahmadsk8eez now that ive seen the video, more technically speaking, the blur you're speaking is due to the small aperture of the lens..the smaller the aperture the more blur you get and the larger, the depth of field increases, and hence, a bit "sharper" background...

  • @Ahmadsk8eez i havent seen the video yet, so not sure what kind of blur you meant, but im guessing the blue u saw was may be due to depth of field and focusing in his camera i guess, otherwise if you want to edit and blur, i can suggest you to download the software GIMP..it's a photo editting software and you can blur backgrounds or selective areas of your choice using the blur tool..hope that helps! :)

  • I just got that lens but am having problems keeping things in focus??? I'm shooting in AV so I don't have to set the shutter speed? i wonder if it's because I'm recomposing that is causing the problem. I am using a canon 60d? any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks

  • whick 50mm you use? 1.8, 1.4 or 1.2??

  • anybody know how u blur the backround on pictures??????

  • @TempleClause1 I agree with you.

  • Hedgehog, canon 5d mkii can take about 4 pics per second (put in drive mode and hold down shutter). Many cameras can go faster (eg canon 7d at 7 fps, as it has a smaller sensor, but cost is slightly reduced image quality)

  • did u edit with lightroom?

  • How fast can you take pictures on this camera? Like how much time between pictures can you push the button and take another one? Any SLR info would be good, I don't have one yet.
