@063209dr ah, thx nice to know
-
@milehighclassics just as confused as you
-
@HeavyDemir No. It's the lack of fluid pump action is why caution is the better part of valour when deciding to push an automatic car more than a short distance, even when in neutral.
-
@063209dr and I thought when he show the one way clutch: is that way u can't push an automatic ???
-
Friction? In oil. ???
-
I don't understand Australian any more. I must go back.
-
As soon as you said that bit doesn't move (rotate) I said wrong! As you discover later in the video, being the one way clutch it does move.

I used to bad mouth the typical automatic transmission but now I know better. 209k mile GM 4L60E, still working amazingly well.

@kolbpilot yeh, lotta early ones and cheapos tended to fail in the past, but these days the typical auto is great!, and can last 500,000km with care and regular service

Thanks for the vid,but quick question. Is the ATF in the torque converter constantly renewed with the ATF in the tranny? Or is it independent?

@MonkeySpecs301 the fluid is continuously flushed. it comes out of the oil pump, into the torque converter then out to the valve body i believe,
