This is a video taken from my dash-cam. It records 24/7 when the vehicle is in motion. GPS speed and heading is imprinted on the video. Was busted by the cop using an LTI Ultralyte 200 model. Said I was doing 72 in a 55. Went to court w/video, ticket reduced to 68, and no points. 17MPH over vs. 13MPH is diff between major and minor speeding. One will get your insurance raised (if not canceled). The other is a free-be. This was in Pasco County Florida.

Here is a description with parts list and cost that I posted on a forum: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1111748-post33.html

  • Is it just me, or should i expect to see the laser gun flashing as you get clocked for speeding, as its IR. Although IR is invisible to you, it'll be on your video.

Either that cop didnt clock you, or you didnt get pulled over by him?

  • @rushlink01 It's just you.

  • Since YOU were convinced that his Radar was inaccurate, you could have filed for maintenance records of THAT particular radar gun, likely finding that it was overdue for calibration, then moving to dismiss based on the failure of the PD to maintain equipment, never having to prove this with YOUR vid at all.

When asked, the officer MUST tell you ON SITE Make Model and Serial Number of the radar they're using.

There are 100 ways to beat a speeding ticket, that's just one.

  • @tazztt1 It was a LASER gun (see title), not radar. Laser does not have the same calibration requirements as radar. All of the defense strategies are based on radar calibration intervals and records, laser simply does not apply.

  • With all the video editing softwares/capabilities nowadays, how can this be used as valid proof? I'm not saying you're lying OP, but you know what I mean?

  • @StreetMagus And on appeal, should the county attempt one, they could have made that argument - and likely would have won. As a defendant, you are entitled to submit any and all evidence for consideration. The magistrate would have been well within his rights to deny the video based on your point, but he didn't. Luck of the draw, I guess. The deck is stacked, as the testimony of an officer is trustworthy and honest UNLESS proven otherwise. Without video, no one can prove anything.

Except the ticket I received was for more than what I was driving - so getting ticketed for my ACTUAL speed is completely acceptable and warranted. If you read the description you'll see that I wasn't out to get away with anything. In fact, I told the deputy, if he wrote me for 68, I would not challenge it. I WAS speeding, just not as fast as the State says I was.

  • @faffaflunkie Now that is useful... thanks. I've never seen that happen in traffic court (magistrates/defense attorneys acting as judges) - but it makes sense. Why wouldn't the hearing officer (or alternate judge) simply not use the video at that point to have the court issue a citation? In other words, if a defendant says, "I couldn't have killed Mike - I was killing Charlie that night", the court wouldn't ignore that 'confession' of Charlie's murder...

Thats all I got from your link OP

  • @erkme73 BOOM! Fucking told his ass.

  • What kind of camera/setup are you using? i was looking for a good set up like this for a while and i would love to have this set up a link or info would be much appreciated.

  • @Pafoofnik1 They do, but it's the officer's job to prove why he's right, making it your job why he's not. Yes, innocent till proven guilty maybe(your obviously not going to just walk around if you were arrested for murder or something). An officer isn't going to defend you unless he's wrong and then he may not because a lot are bad people and don't give a shit.
