This is a video of our WGI Prelims performance in Stratford, Connecticut, recorded (presumably) off the television feed. Our score for this performance was 92.9, and the Finals performance later that day yielded a 93.1. The piece performed in this video is director Steve Cirillo's adaptation of Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla, by Mikhail Glinka. I (the uploader) am playing the top half of the front-center marimba.

Note: The back audience is scarce because most of the audience is situated in front of us, where the sound projection is more direct.

  • I am in this band right now and let me tell you, it is very very hard work. This Portsmouth High School in NH. Even though I am not in this video, I know some of the people in it.

  • Who's this? I'm an alum at this point (going to college at UC Santa Barbara), but I'll be back to visit around Thanksgiving, would like to meet who wrote this.

  • Aww i miss this. Thanks for posting it (a million years ago) Sam, it's great to have it so easily accessable!!

  • thats awesome, u guys r good!

  • i know seth, actually.

  • My big problem with percussion ensambles is the difficulty of the mallet parts compared to the non-mallet parts. Luckily, this really just seems to be scale runs. Not that I'm saying it's not hard.

  • That is so awesome! Amazing job!!

  • BRAVO!!!

  • Wow!!!! THis is so interesting and what a speical version!! Funny to watch

  • very cool

  • w00T im in the band as well, not in the vid tho, go clippers

  • I'm guessing this is Sam, your friends with Anisha and Seth, and Marley and the rest of them right? Well I'm one of the cymbal players. Ask Seth who the cymbal player right next to Kyle is and he will tell you who I am, I don't really want to give my name out on Youtube, lol...but since no one on Youtube knows the people I named above I guess it is ok.
