  • If your mother and father are also your aunt and uncle......you are definitely a redneck.

  • I should also add that people who don't have that practice almost exclusively look at their own inner concepts and stereotypes to draw absurdity from, so it's highly unlikely that they will draw absurdity from what they consider "normal." This, of course, usually makes them look like stupid, dangerous people in the eyes of others who don't share their "normality."

I wish I could bold those quotes.

  • Look for WASP jokes. There are a lot of them, but they're not done by WASPs - unless you practice looking for the absurd in general terms, you usually have to see someone as "other" before you can rip them apart like that. ._.

  • Here's one for you:

It's no wonder so many rednecks are big fans of Jesus. Half of them are also their own fathers.

  • "Do they sit around and make this up?" yes

"Is there a site?" yes, several.

The basis for all racist jokes is simple, you take a racial stereotype and then poke fun at it. It's not that easy to make up jokes against all whites, it's easier to stick to rednecks, nerds, preps, jocks, etc... specific cliques. I'm always amused by jokes directed at groups I consider myself part of.

But yes, it can often be uncomfortable, it shows you care. You're not supposed to be completely comfortable with them

  • agreed with AA too. In a situation like that I would definitely use facial expressions to indicate that I found the whole thing distasteful... sometimes a small glance can bring out an explaination from someone - or can confirm that they really are an ass.

sorry you found yourself in that situation. you might consider talking with your friend about it, just the way you did here. he might have some further insight.

  • Thanks, man. That's what I want to hear!

  • Nah, you didn't bring me down... the weather did it all!! :) You are a bright shiny part of my day, for real :)

  • My wife is brown ("North American Indian"), as are the majority of those with whom I interact daily. They're so used to me now that they literally sometimes forget that I'm white. Sometimes, someone I'm with will make an unpleasant comment about "those whites" and then suddenly catch themselves when they remember me.

It's a very different context than what you're describing, though. They're the embarrassed one and I'm the one laughing.

  • A google search for "white jokes" finds some, but not that many and most of them aren't very good. Eg:

"How many white men does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

One, white men will screw anything. "

"What do you call 500,000 white guys jumping out of a plane?

    Snow. "

"How do you stop five white guys from raping a white woman? Throw them a golf ball."

"What do you call a white cop? Police brutality."

"What do you call a mob of white people in Detroit burning down the city? A hockey victory."
