Illustrator Alex Pardee puts the DEMON in demonstrate, as he shows you his technique for painting a portrait of his favorite sitcom hero, Steve Urkel from Family Matters, in preparation for a televison-themed art show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles, CA.
The portrait was painted entirely with inks on claybord and took about 5 hours.

  • Its dyes and watercolor, not acrylics

  • Guys, he's using either acrylic ink or watered down acrylics. I read someone say it was water color but you can't get that opaque like he did when he was applying it without using a fuckton of pigment, which could be very wasteful and expensive. And he probably used white acrylic to cover up the yellow. Case solved! :D

  • 22 people are either blind or just plain stupid.

  • Amazing work. never heard of clayboard, is it inexpensive ? i use a lot of colours and drip work, would be nice to try 'whiting' areas. Is it ink he uses ? or would watercolour or watered acrylic work as well ? thanks for any responses.

  • WHAT STYLE IS THIS?????????

  • Alex Pardee i gotten quiet few of you shirts and i still cant get enough why am i addicted to art in rawest form your a talented artist keep reaching for the star ! fun video !

  • Its a clayboard so the ink comes right off, as opposed to it being paper where the ink would basically stay forever!

So that is how is how he removed his ink :)

  • Wait if he uses ink does he use a paint brush still or what? I don't understand and if someone tells me that then it could really help me haha someone respond pleaseee

  • ...the man is a god.
