Mary Zimmerman, director of STC's upcoming musical "Candide," discusses the challenges and joys of interacting with this famous satirical work. As she describes, her work as director and adaptor included the task of bringing "the schoolboy's farce of a genius" to life. Zimmerman also discusses how her experience in opera has helped her mount a musical that relies on its narrative lyrics and timelessly catchy tunes to enchant audiences past and present.
