  • Crooks made lots of fine recordings. He was one of 4 excellent American tenors

from roughly the same period: Charles Kullman, James Melton and Eugene Conley.

All can be heard on Youtube. Crooks retired at age 44 due to health problems.

Even more noted were Jan Peerce and Richard Tucker who sang for decades at the

    Met.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @XXSIXPENCE

    Peter Dawson was a bass-baritone.

  • Correction to my previous post - Peter Dawson is the Aussie tenor

  • This song never fails to move me - my heart swells with joy as I listen to it. Also love the version by Australian tenor Peter Dason

  • a beautiful piece

  • Wonderful! His diction was perfect.

  • This music is very beautiful and gives a sense of peace and content
