The amazing thing of this song is it is based upon her ancestry and her great+ father had written letters and they came across her path to make this incredible song! Powerful indeed........

It's hard to really explain how much I love this song. Probably the best lyricist out there right now.

Thanks for posting this great song. I too am the descendant of a Valley Forge survivor, Christopher Ware Long, who ended up carrying the American flag at the surrender of the British at Yorktown. To me this song is a reminder that these were ordinary folks with ordinary concerns making an extraordinary sacrifice, and it behooves me to use well the freedom that they won for me.

Why couldn't my dad have played at the Philly Folk Fest in '06? We were there YEARS ago...like '97 and '99. So unfair! I would love like mad to see Eliza. This song makes me tear up every single time I hear it.

I had the pleasure of seeing Eliza perform this song live at The Bugle Boy. I found myself in awe of her ability. I could listen to her for hours. I have heard that she will be coming to LaGrange again and I plan on being there, I couldn't miss it. Wonderfull songwriter and singer. Thanks for the clip.
