Locarno International Film Festival - Winners 2011

The awards for the 2011 Open Doors co-production lab, that is organised with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the support of the City of Bellinzona, were announced on Tuesday August 9.

Grant Open Doors for 30.000 CHF
• THE TRAPPER'S SNARE by Shanker Raman produced by Rucha Pathak
Grant Open Doors for 20.000 CHF
• BURQA BOXERS directed and produced by Alka Raghuram
Grant for development CNC for 7.000 Euros
• LASYA (The Gentle Dance) by Anup Singh produced by Johannes Rexin
Grant for development ARTE for 6.000 Euros
• CHAR... THE ISLAND WITHIN directed and produced by Sourav Sarangi,
co-produced by Stefano Tealdi and Signe Byrge Sørensen

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The Golden Leopard was awarded to 'Back to Stay' by Milagros Mumenthaler,

The Golden Leopard special jury was awarded to Shinji Aoyama for the film TOKYO KOEN and his outstanding career

Special Jury prize was awarded to 'Policeman' by Nadav Lapid from Israel

The leopard award for Best Director went to Adrian Sitaru for the film (Best Intentions)

The Leopard for Best Actress went to María Canale (Back to Stay) by Milagros Mumenthaler,

The Leopard for Best Actor went to Bogdan Dumitrache for the film (Best Intentions) by Adrian Sitaru

Special Mention was given to (Goodbye First Love) by Mia Hansen-Løve,

Leopard for best First Feature was awarded to NANA by Valérie Massadian

NATIONAL COMPETITION

Golden Leopard for Best Swiss Short film was awarded to (The Ambassador & me) by Jan Czarlewski

Silver Leopard was awarded to (The Girls' Grave) by Carmen Jaquier

Premio Action Light for the Best Swiss Newcomer was awarded to (Another Game) by Jean Guillaume Sonnier
