This clearly inspired the scene from War of the Worlds! (The new one) The roar even sounds like the tripods.

I liked that they kinda recreated the shot in GMK GIANT MONSTERS ALL OUT ATTACK XD

@TisJacob I apologize for responding to an old comment, but this is one of those things that would bug me.
Actually, Godzillas roar was made by the composer dipping a rubber glove into rosin (a material that improves the sound of string instruments) and rubbing it on the lowest string of a contrabass, which had previously been loosened and let out of tune. Then they messed around with it to make it sound like an animal noise. Those springs are actually a noises from a string instrument

Turns out the Godzilla roar sound was a rusty iron gate outside the production office that made the film. They held a microphone to it as they opened and closed it. If you listen closely you can tell it's just some rusty springs. :)

godzilla 1954 cool movie

I saw the Raymond Burr version when I was about 5, this is one of the scenes that gave me the willies.

@Wunderwaffen1946 lol yeah and Godzilla still ended up beating Mecha Godzilla alone.

Stop screaming! For God's sake! Have you seen his legs?!! HE'S NOT HOPPIN OVER THE HILL!!!

@SuperbGodzilla - Did you never get why Godzilla threw a shit fit? He was nuked which as Dr. Yamane pointed out was why he left, somewhere in the Bikini Atoll area his old home was glowing green. I mean if I threw a gas bomb into your house you would come back and return the favor. Wouldn't you? Anyway the lazy one is King Caesar, a 7 minute song to wake him up.
think about how terrifying it would be to see Godzilla poke his head out of a hill

I always thought of the original Godzilla as a "lazy" monster. I mean, c'mon, they had to drop a nuclear bomb just to get him outta bed!
